Deer Park Ranger shows the Bottom of The Ocean

We are very happy to announce that Deer Park Ranger comes with his third release on Fluttery Records.  Bottom Of The Ocean is the first full length release from Trevor Humphrey’s post-rock/ambient solo project, Deer Park Ranger (Oakland, CA)

After releasing 2 EPs in the last year, Humphrey has followed up with a 10 track LP of compelling and emotional songs. Bottom Of The Ocean is an extremely personal record that touches points of sorrow, pain, and fear while juxtaposing them with moments of hope, and elation. This blend highlights the dichotomy of emotions that are present during a major life change.

The painful end of things you used to love, and the overwhelming excitement of your next chapter. This emotional tug and pull is present throughout the listening experience. Progressive movements are intertwined with soft piano melodies, and blended with synths and arpeggiators to create swelling soundscapes. Heavy, aggressive guitars tear through tracks like Gallows, while Part Of The Story and The Days You Used To Love are reflective and evoke feelings of nostalgia, and the title track cascades to a crescendo of hope and triumph.

Making ambient music on Stained Glass: Monochromie

Monochromie strikes back again. Wilson Trouvé, a French composer now living in Belgium, has been composing and releasing ambient music and modern classical compositions since 2012, the year of his debut album “Angels and Demons”. As a pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, he has released at least six full-length albums and other EP on various independent labels.

Stained Glass talks about purity, serenity and sometimes storms as well. Life is made of changes, breaks, new starts, periods of noise or silence. Stained Glass tries to capture those moving moments, often ephemeral and beautiful, peaceful or even disturbing, colorful or dark, at night or during a sunny day. Those inspirational and emotional pictures of life always emerge from Monochromie’s music. Stained Glass is also about that light that comes across windows, suddenly enlightening our home and calling us outside for a walk. Monochromie’s music is made of light.

It took two years for Stained Glass to be finally completed with additional tracks. At the same period of time, Wilson Trouvé (Monochromie) has left the south of France to live in Brussels. If you still haven’t heard about Monochromie, let’s start today with Stained Glass which is a stunning collection of ambient and experimental tracks. Then you can explore all of Monochromie’s previous albums including his debut opus “Angels and Demons” released in 2012 on Fluttery Records.

Sophomore release of Sleeping Horses: Water For Air

We are very happy to again to go to Portland, OR and bring you the sophomore album by Sleeping Horses which which is a delight for ambient music lovers.

They say that the sophomore release can be the hardest, but Sleeping Horses James Fouty makes it seem effortless and delivers the emotion with a passionate drive that expands upon the first album as it picks up almost exactly where the debut left off. Less than a year from the release of his debut, Sleeping Horses has raised the bar with Water for Air.

The Oregon based recording artist took no breaks from songwriting, painstakingly sweating over every tone, arrangement and melody. The passion drips from each measure and overtone as if it were dipped in the deepest and most elaborate feelings possible. Take every sunset you can never forget, every moonlit walk with the heart of a young lover, every time you knew you were in the middle of what would become the most memorable moments of your life, and you might come close to Water for Air. With its lush string arrangements and analogue ambient music textures, Water for Air is a collection from a songwriter in his prime, the honesty poured into this LP is evident in every track.

Electronic face of We Deserve This: Tearing

We are happy to announce a new EP by We Deserve This: Tearing.

This is his fifth release on Fluttery Records and it’s kind of strange how his sounds expand from one release to another. The EP contains 4 new songs which are played, recorded, mixed and mastered by Jan-Dirk Platek in his hometown Velbert in Germany.

We Deserve This is known for a prolific release schedule and it’s safe to say that “Tearing“ is Jan-Dirk Platek’s most ambitious work. Beautiful piano textures under layers of ambient soundscapes. He produced an outstanding mixture of ambient, modern classical, electronic music / downtempo and post-rock. The melancholic feeling is still here but this time, We Deserve This is going a step further in the experimental electronic scene.

Secoya says “World is Yours”

COVER (3)

Secoya is an ambient / experimental project of George Robinson, a producer from Bristol, UK. He started his musical journey by playing piano at early age. As he grew older, he discovered different types of music and different methods to create them. His music is often lo-fi and reflects a mixture of the surroundings of the countryside, where he lives and the darkness of the city, where he also spends much of his time. This combination of ambient, experimental, lo-fi and classical aims to capture and evoke certain emotions.

There are commonly extensive dynamic changes in his music. These contrasting atmospheres develop his nostalgic and melodic brand of ambient music.

Listening to Secoya is like a gate opens to past but not just his. Get ready go through old movies, amusement parks, dusty things in the attic.

The World is Yours is the second album by the British composer / musician George Robinson, also known as Secoya, following his 2015 release, Ghosts. Since he wrote the music that became Ghosts, he has created a lot of music and feels that this practice has enabled a greater musical competency and understanding of composition.

The album differ from his previous album in that it is greatly influenced by classical music, putting strings and choirs at the forefront. Robinson has maintained his ability to write relatively cozy and sincere songs but has also allowed himself to add greater complexity. He feels strings and similar acoustic instruments are underused in synthesizer dominated ambient music, and that there was space to create acoustic based ambient music.

The songs convey a wide range of emotions from despairing sadness to joyous euphoria, continuing Robinson’s tendency to add emotion to his music.

Inner Trip’s Moments of No Time

cover

Inner Trip is a project from Iran created and represented by Saman N (born in 1984, graphic artist and musician).

Saman’s third album “Moments of No Time” is a next step on a journey which began with his debut album “Somewhere Near the Pulse”, released by Fluttery Records a few years ago.

This album contains seven tracks with seven different atmospheres but under the same genre of electronic music and mostly with down tempo cinematic elements. The title of each song is related to the particular scene Saman had in his mind during his musical journey while recording the tracks.

One thing that Saman N tries to achieve with his music is to create imaginary images for audience. That’s why his music floats over different genres from Soundtrack to Trip Hop. He believes making music is like painting. You might choose just one or two colours for your entire canvass or you may decide to use all the colours in your palette for just one scene.

The most important thing is what art looks like at the end and the way it exposes your inner word. Individuality could be the identity of any type of art. With “Moments of No Time”, Saman did once again follow his inner voices to depict a new scene raised of the individuality of the artist.

Max Lilja release Morphosis

Max Lilja ex Apocalyptica release soloLast year we started the talks with Max Lilja about his upcoming album. Now, it is such a nice feeling to have such a gifted artist in your artist roster.

Lilja, known as one of the most versatile and adventurous cellist of all times, is a Finnish cellist and composer. Max Lilja is also co-founder of legendary Apocalyptica and touring member of Tarja Turunen (former Nightwish).

Morphosis is an album where all the music is written on the cello. Max found inspirations in the melodies which wrote themselves on jamming sessions. Also, he used different approaches to the instrument by using different tunings, “A possibility that is sadly and very commonly ignored” says Max.

“When I record I’m balancing in between the possibilities of the instrument added with the electronics and the challenges of doing it all on cello.” says Lilja “Some of the lines require a very classical approach and in others I need to completely reform the original cello sound. I really enjoy going deep into the sonic possibilities, tweeking the knobs of analog effect devices and finding the perfect sounds for all the parts of the arrangements.”

Lilja was touring while at the same time recording and mixing the album. Lilja thinks it made the process more intense. “Making a music album is an intense but rewarding process and especially when you do almost all yourself. Working on the vision, writing, producing, performing, recording, mixing and being involved in the mastering. In all the steps I’m working with material that is born deep inside me and is highly emotional to me. It’s very challenging to find inside me all the different roles needed in the process and respect when the producer tells me that the arrangement sucks… so many decisions to be made and all have an influence on what the listener will hear and feel.”

Morphosis is probably not the easiest music album in the world but the artist thinks that he has achieved something truly unique that the world has never heard before. In the album, the master of the electric cello utilizes a wide spectrum of analog and digital effects to build strong identities for the sounds originating from the cello. In the nine instrumental songs you can hear influences from trip hop to electronica, from rock to classical, all morphed to the amazing cinematic images through Lilja’s cello.

One more time, Fluttery Records is proud to be Max Lilja’s record label.

Apocalyptica’s Max Lilja signs to Fluttery Records

Max Lilja

Max Lilja, co-founder of legendary Apocalyptica and touring member of Tarja Turunen band has signed a recording contract with Fluttery Records. Label is to release Lilja’s sophomore solo album.

Max Lilja, known as one of the most versatile and adventurous cellist of all times, is a Finnish cellist and composer. Lilja prepares to release his new album on Fluttery Records and celebrate the album with a tour.

maxlilja-sml1

Lilja showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. At the age of five, when other children started to recognize colours and shapes of letter in alphabet, he became highly attentive to melodies created by playing his first violin. Two years later, he switched to cello, which had stayed his life passion ever since and he was accepted to the Junior Academy of Sibelius Academy when he was ten.

After years of studying and playing in various symphony orchestras, in 1996, Apocalyptica was created with Max (being only 21 years old) as one of the founders. In the following years, the band released three albums (Plays Metallica By Four Cellos in 1996, Inquisition Symphony in 1998 and Cult in 2000).

After leaving Apocalyptica in early 2000s, it seems Max unveiled his full potential – besides being a cellist in Finnish National Opera Orchestra, he became member of a multi genre metal band Hevein and a Finnish folk-pop band Tekijä Tuntematon, whose music is based on Finnish poetry.

In 2007, after initial ideas of solo album and searching for “the sound” of electrified cello, he started touring and recording with former Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen and eventually, in 2013, his first solo album Play Electronica By One Cello was released.

In Lilja’s upcoming solo album Morphosis, the master of the electric cello utilizes a wide spectrum of analog and digital effects to build strong identities for the sounds originating from the cello.
