Making ambient music on Stained Glass: Monochromie

Monochromie strikes back again. Wilson Trouvé, a French composer now living in Belgium, has been composing and releasing ambient music and modern classical compositions since 2012, the year of his debut album “Angels and Demons”. As a pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, he has released at least six full-length albums and other EP on various independent labels.

Stained Glass talks about purity, serenity and sometimes storms as well. Life is made of changes, breaks, new starts, periods of noise or silence. Stained Glass tries to capture those moving moments, often ephemeral and beautiful, peaceful or even disturbing, colorful or dark, at night or during a sunny day. Those inspirational and emotional pictures of life always emerge from Monochromie’s music. Stained Glass is also about that light that comes across windows, suddenly enlightening our home and calling us outside for a walk. Monochromie’s music is made of light.

It took two years for Stained Glass to be finally completed with additional tracks. At the same period of time, Wilson Trouvé (Monochromie) has left the south of France to live in Brussels. If you still haven’t heard about Monochromie, let’s start today with Stained Glass which is a stunning collection of ambient and experimental tracks. Then you can explore all of Monochromie’s previous albums including his debut opus “Angels and Demons” released in 2012 on Fluttery Records.

Sophomore release of Sleeping Horses: Water For Air

We are very happy to again to go to Portland, OR and bring you the sophomore album by Sleeping Horses which which is a delight for ambient music lovers.

They say that the sophomore release can be the hardest, but Sleeping Horses James Fouty makes it seem effortless and delivers the emotion with a passionate drive that expands upon the first album as it picks up almost exactly where the debut left off. Less than a year from the release of his debut, Sleeping Horses has raised the bar with Water for Air.

The Oregon based recording artist took no breaks from songwriting, painstakingly sweating over every tone, arrangement and melody. The passion drips from each measure and overtone as if it were dipped in the deepest and most elaborate feelings possible. Take every sunset you can never forget, every moonlit walk with the heart of a young lover, every time you knew you were in the middle of what would become the most memorable moments of your life, and you might come close to Water for Air. With its lush string arrangements and analogue ambient music textures, Water for Air is a collection from a songwriter in his prime, the honesty poured into this LP is evident in every track.

Absence has been released

Gargle and Bosques de mi Mente’s Absence is a perfect album travels in the rivers of classical music, ambient and post-rock.

Bosques de mi Mente is a Spanish contemporary classical composer, that has been creating minimalist piano pieces over the years. Gargle is a duo from Japan that plays beautiful post-rock ambient with modern classical influences. Absence is their first collaboration from these two artists, a delightful and pleasant record.

It all started when the band contacted the composer, a correspondence that would result in a true friendship. Both shared stage in Madrid, Spain, in 2011.

Absence, the album, was conceived when Gargle asked Bosques de mi Mente to work on a song together for the forthcoming Gargle’s album. The experience was so fulfilling for them that they decided to expand on it, and so Absence was born.

From the beginning, the goal was to create a completely collaborative album. The process started by sharing small ideas and song pieces, and soon everything started to gall into place, leading to the three of them working together as a true three-piece band in a gradual and natural way. The result is pure harmony, beauty and a wing for atmosphere, space and time.

Bosques De Mi Mente’s pianos are like little paper ships floating over the water. String players from Tokyo College of Music, conducted by Jun gives the album a great symphonic dimension. Gargle’s guitars and accordions gets the music over the stratosphere. Hope to see these modern classical pieces turn into modern classics.

Recent debut “Iris” EP made by Olekksii is a pill which helps you to struggle with such a modern world feelings like lonelines, sorrow, inconstancy. If you impressed by works of Olafur Arnalds, Max Richter, Kettel, Ochre, Jon Hopkins or Nils Frahm you definitely need to give “Iris” EP a try.

Inner Trip’s sophomore album: Initiate

Inner Trip continues the journey with his sophomore album. Nine pieces from nine different lands of music make the second album of Inner Trip which entitled “Initiate”. In a closer view, the album is based on electronic and ambient atmosphere with some touches of oriental music. Although there are two songs with vocals, “Initiate” is almost an instrumental album.

Inner Trip’ is the solo project of Saman N (born 1984, graphic artist and musician) formed in 2011. Saman lives in Iran. With his debut album “Somewhere Near The Pulse” he has overcome the prejudice and made a good start on his musical journey. The album received good response from the followers of our label.

The project’s musical genre was based on cinematic soundtracks in which there were multiple influences from other genres like ‘Ambient’, ‘Electronic’, ‘Trip Hop’. However, Saman N’s style of musicality also made ‘Inner Trip’ an “Experimental” project in the sense of musical genre. Beside of transferring his sole feelings to the audience, Saman N has quoted attempts to produce a music which could create strong visualizations for them.

Saman says “Inner Trip’s dough, imagination and dream, have a bold role on my music. Each track has a deal with my inner fantastic world.” Initiate might be the right choice to discover what lies beneath.
