A cruise between two different worlds: “Blend” by Runar Blesvik

Runar Blesvik is a modern classical music composer, producer and pianist based in Oslo, Norway. He has composed for several short films and projects, thereof mainly orchestral music. Lately, he has widened his field to include intimate modern classical piano music mixed with electronic tones.

Cinematic and evocative music is Runar Blesvik’s forte. At an early age, he felt at home in front of the piano, and has since found his voice in composing. Inspired by the stunning nature of Western Norway where he grew up, his music echoes beautiful and dramatic landscapes, as well as different states of mind. Spectral piano chords and wistful melodies contrasted with rigorous electronic soundscapes will guide you through a deeply affecting and diverse experience. Runar produces, records and mixes all the music he releases.

Runar Blesvik’s debut album is a blend between different soundscapes – from emotional, fluid piano pieces to dark, enigmatic electronic music. Combining haunting melodies with layered harmonies, the organic with the synthetic has made the music contrasted and unpredictable. Exploring both the classical and pure as well as the synthesised and abnormal, this music will take your on a cruise between two different worlds.

Inspired by some of today’s and yesteryears’ leading composers in modern classical and electronic music, Runar Blesvik has paid homage to different styles while making his compositions truly unique. “1976” is a callback to Jean-Michel Jarre’s heyday, while “Flow” explores the layered piano sounds of Nils Frahm.
