Dan Caine - Cascades (Remastered)

Dan Caine is an ambient / post-rock musician born in 1988 in Wirral, England. Dan first picked up the guitar at age 15, inspired by a lot of alternative music, as well as his own father who played the classical guitar. He has had no formal musical training or tutoring, save for being taught a few basic chords from his father. He realised early on that making music was a great way of expressing himself and began recording his experimentations as a hobby. Eventually, in 2013, he published his first album, “Ephemeris”, which was a collection of some of his best ambient pieces that he had made of over the previous years. Since then, his music has evolved and has primarily drawn on influences from ambient, post-rock and new-age music.

For his fifth release on Fluttery Records, Dan Caine comes with a remastered edition of his 2015 album, Cascades. Characterized by long, meditative guitar soundscapes, this is Dan Caine’s defining ambient album. As with all of his works to date, the guitar is the primary tool used to create interweaving, layered melodies and atmospheric soundscapes that are powerful and moving, and full of lucid imagery. It is the perfect example of Dan Caine’s intuitive, sub-conscious style of music making where conscious thought takes the back seat, and emotion and intuition guide the creative process. There is certainly no lack of transcendental moments here, and with every listen, each of the 8 tracks reveal something new, presenting subtle nuances that draw the listener into the music. Although the mood of the album shifts between light and dark, ultimately it will take the listener on a profound journey that, by the end of the record, results in a heightened feeling of peace, tranquility and inspiration.
