HeklAa is a post-rock solo project of the French composer Sébastien Touraton from France. The project has started after a second and unforgettable trip in the beautiful Iceland. He was there in April as the volcano Eyjafjallajokull erupted, stuck with his wife and daughter. Nobody knew how long people would have to stay but the news was talking about a six months eruption. The minute Sébastien was back in France, he felt that he had to convert this experience into music. HeklAa was named after a volcano, not the one which erupted, but it would have been much more complicated to write and say Eyjafjallajokull, right?!

Besides Iceland, post-rock, movie music and jazz are a major influence on his music, on the way he plays the piano. Don’t ask him what kind of music he composes, you would remain unanswered! Is it post-rock, post-classical, new-classical, or something else? You decide!
