Danish post-rock quartet, The Seven Mile Journey, will head out for their first ever China tour in April 2015 and play 9 shows across the country. The Seven Mile Journey exude an aesthetic laden with contemplative gloom and the intelligent sparseness of storytelling.
In successfully avoiding spectacle and excessive musical speculation, The Seven Mile Journey have crafted a style of their own which asks questions of its listeners, yet yields few answers.
The power of Seven Mile Journey lies in what’s in the middle of songs – not in the climaxes. The band fully maintained the excellence at drawing the listeners into their twisted world; they tell a thrilling story more than to focus on the louder or softer parts.
They manage to vary nicely, and move, for example, from intimate piano pieces to gritty guitar ambient and imposing post-rock. The soundscapes they create are layered and beautifully melancholic. Everything fits; no note too many, and no weaker moments. Watching the Seven Mile Journey Life is a haunting and beautiful experience.
