Fluttery Records start the autumn with Row Boat’s “Romance” which was the first release from Row Boat back in 2009. Now, Fluttery Records have decided to rerelease the E.P which is regarded by many fans as a real glimpse into the ambient and experimental world.
Row Boat is a post-rock / ambient solo project by Mark Wardale. Described as “an effort to depict the nature of Scandinavia in note form, the stunning results are lush, ethereal ambience created from a merging of organic strings, horns, bowed guitar work, drums and bass.
Row Boat has been active since 2009, in which 2 full length albums and 3 EP’s have transpired. The debut album ‘Ett’, received glowing reviews from music critics globally as well as a number of ‘Album Of The Year’ nominations. Mark then found his place under the wings of Fluttery Records where he released his second album In Between which was a wash with breathtaking romantic, ambient songs.
Now, Fluttery Records has decided to celebrate the 5 active years of Row Boat, by rereleasing the first ever EP titled ‘Romance’. It seems very apt that after the second album hit the shelves, the first EP be showcased again. A beautifully constructed set of four songs which overflow with textures and unique sounds, strings, horns and xylophones, remind us of where it all began.
Again, Mark decided to work with ‘Daniela Patrizi’ on the reworkings of the art for ‘Romance’. After the perfect imagery for ‘In Between’ was established and due to the links between the similar genre’s of the releases, it was deemed imperative that the same working relationship continue after such success.
This E.P has everything packed into 4 songs. From the uplifting and feel good cinematic songs ‘Bella’ and title track ‘Romance’ which are packed full of vibrance, to the more obscure, experimental and thoughtprovoking ‘Ljudet’ and ‘Gjenfødt’. To not listen to this E.P, is to not experience the true relationship between ambience and art.
