“signalsundertests” release Nascent on Fluttery Records

Richard (Ricky) Graham is a highly inspired and enthusiastic musician and music producer originally from Northern Ireland, now based in the USA. His music productions encompass everything from ambient to experimental to progressive music.

Graham has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Asia and US promoting various music releases since 2006, recorded various sessions for BBC radio, and his productions have featured on regional and national TV & Radio. Ricky has been involved with a multitude of music festivals and performance events, sharing the stage with Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio 1) and Boxcutter (Planet Mu) in 2008, and electronica legend, Ulrich Schnauss in 2009. Graham completed his Ph.D in music in 2012. The same year, Graham joined Fluttery Records family.

signalsundertests is Graham’s sonic playground, beginning life as a collaborative project with fellow artisan, John King. Since 2008, Graham has developed the signalsundertests project to attend to the effects of interactive music technology on music performance, resulting in a series of collaborations with a conglomeration of contrasting artists.

“Nascent” features a series of ambient guitar-based musical works. The pieces seek to interrogate the increasingly polyphonic nature of the solo performing electronic guitarist. The disc features a series of refined live improvisations through production techniques. The live recordings were produced with hardware and software developed by Graham. The album features collaborative efforts from Irish Composer, Michael Andrews, and American Vocalist, Laura Graham. Dublin- based producer, Philip Byrne, mastered the disc. The artwork is by Tennessee-based Artist, Jon Kenney. Overall, this album has resulted from a positive musical experience, which Graham calls his best work, thus far.

signalsundertests produce sound sculptures; and they talk to you, as if they were communicating directly to your face. There are plenty of drone, ambient / electronic(a) musicians out there, but not many produce music with bespoke music software and hardware developed by themselves.

Guitar Player Magazine says: “The brainchild of Northern Irish experimental guitarist, Ricky Graham, in collaboration with composer and tape-wrangler, Michael Andrews, this music began as a series of improvisations created utilising looping and processing software and polyphonic guitar hardware developed by Graham, and was later refined into its present form. Unlike other “drone” and “atmospheric” music, it possesses a subtle evocative and majestic quality reminiscent of masters such as Brian Eno, Michael Brook, and Robert Rich.”

Ambient & Experimental Electronic Music Specialist Astrowind Releases “Fresh Wind In The Valley Of Dreams”

Astrowind, Ambient & Electronic music artist

Astrowind is Kriipis Tulo from Latvia who has been featured as a key figure of the Latvian electronic music scene for producing some of the most essential experimental electronic and ambient music of the past years. Astrowind creates deep music with help of vintage analog synthesizers and open-reel tape recorder. Sven Swift says “Astrowind got the harmonies and the sound to become one of the most interesting Baltic acts to emerge from a scene rich of innovative musicians.” After releasing a few works on underground music labels, Astrowind took his place on Fluttery Records and his 12 track album Fresh Wind In The Valley Of Dreams is made available the label.

Many Astrowind’s tracks are themed in outer space and its secrets – musical attempts to grasp the unknown. Astrowind offers a spiral of accumulated experience of what has been seen, heard, dreamt and read, the desire to get away beyond the horizon of consciousness and sub-consciousness through musical experience.

The album is dedicated to the cosmonaut Aleksey Leonov – the first man in outer space and a person who has always appealed to the author. Such tracks as The Case with Colonel Aleksey Leonov, Lost and Found on The Moon, Mute Pilots and Aleksey Leonov See Dreams are also inspired by the movie 2010: The Year We Make Contact (a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey) which tells the story of an American-Russian space crew flying to the Jupiter System on a ship named after Aleksey Leonov. The author hopes that Aleksey Leonov will hear this record. This track greets him.

The album’s title track, Wind on the Plain, has been named after Debussy’s Le Vent de la plaine. This is a tribute to the composer who has been an inspiration for Astrowind for a long time. The album was recorded in collaboration with Mahi Bukimi. Kriipis Tulo is grateful to Mahi Bukimi for his contrubution in the recording of this album. The album provides a fusion of nostalgic echoes of Soviet news broadcasts, an echo of old radio sets and the cinematic patina of artwork by censored Soviet filmmakers. These are islands of memory, the past overcoming the future.

Debut comes from Inner Trip, the ambient / post-rock project from Iran

Inner Trip’s cinematic sound travels between various music genres. His debut album Somewhere Near The Pulse is available on Fluttery Records

Saman, Inner Trip

Fluttery Records is the home of many creative artists from all over the world. The label is now releasing the debut album of Inner Trip from Iran. ‘Inner Trip’ is the musical solo project of Saman N (born 1984, graphic artist and musician), on which he started to work since the spring 2011.

He has just released his debut album “Somewhere Near The Pulse“. The album can be streamed free from this link.

The project’s musical genre was based on cinematic soundtracks in which there were multiple influences from other genres like ‘Modern classical‘, ‘Ambient‘, ‘Electronic‘, ‘Trip Hop‘. However, Saman N’s unique style of musicality also made ‘Inner Trip’ an “Experimental” project in the sense of musical genre. Beside of transferring his sole feelings to the audience, Saman N has quoted attempts to produce a music which could create strong visualizations for them.

‘Inner Trip’ started with the production of ‘Somewhere Near The Pulse‘ album which was composed, recorded and produced from winter 2010 to summer 2011, an album with seven tracks and 46:49 length.

It is an album with seven pieces based-on cinematic and emotional atmosphere with lots of strange musical elements which are gathered to depict a dreamy dramatic story. He says “It’s like a prophecy because there is no flat line to follow, no definite structure but that’s all about a way to represent an inner world while strings, drums, woodwinds and electronic sounds combine to make a wide scene in the front of listener.”

As Saman N. quoted that during the production of “Somewhere Near The Pulse”, he always tried to free himself by listening solely to the inspirations inside him and allowed these elements to shape his music as it should be. Therefore, he has called this album as an interesting risk in his artistic profile. Close your eyes , turn up the volume a bit and let the dreams began, have a good trip! Recommended if you like artists like Brian Eno, Saltillo, Clint Mansell, Subheim, Field Rotation, Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Biosphere.

The album is available on Fluttery Records, a “New home of Post-rockAmbientExperimentalElectronicModern Classical music”. The album is also available on major download stores like iTunes, Bandcamp, AmazonMP3. All the releases by the label can be streamed free on the site.
