We have three great post-rock albums to come in April & May. You will be hearing two new albums and two re-issues.
Artificial Waves – Initial Link
First we are going to reissue remixed and remastered version of Artificial Waves debut album. “Initial Link” is the first Artificial Waves album initially self-released in March 2013. It defines the Artificial Waves sound that includes traditional post-rock instruments: guitar, bass, drums, but also electronics, piano and strings parts adding details to overall mix every time you listen to it. “Initial Link” consists of six dynamic and melodic tracks, for example the third track called “Transient” tells a long story through its complicated composition structure from loud intro to quiet main theme presented on electric piano and guitars and exciting solo part. This time, it comes with a better version for the fans.
Sairen – Neige Nuit
A breathtaking new album from the French solo post-rock artist is about to come. Through a rich and harmonious sound language, Sairen delivers a powerful contemplative music that evolves between post-rock, orchestral and electronic music. With a style of writing sometimes borrowed from classical music and the use of amplified and electro instruments, Sairen offers a burning emotional sound universe, where each piece is an invitation to an uncertain and tumultuous journey. “Neige Nuit” is the new release of Sairen. This intense album in nuances does not need much time for its elaboration: it shows a raw, homogeneous and spontaneous piece.
Ghost Island – Assimilation
Post-rock band from Phoenix, Arizona, Ghost Island seeks to relive your most ecstatic bliss just before confronting your most impenetrable fears. The band’s music makes you feel far from home while offering a comforting solace that comes from within.John conceived the concept of Assimilation after a failed suicide attempt following the end of a nearly four-year relationship. Merchants of Air reviews the album as “A calm, lucid, quiet and very modest post-rock album, Assimilation can be considered a minor masterpiece, specially taking into consideration its precise and detailed technicality.”
Cold, Cold Heart – Arch
For the past two years Cold, Cold Heart have been working (slowly) on the follow up to their BBC 6 music celebrated debut album and return with an EP entitled ‘Arch’. Cold, Cold Heart is a post-rock / ambient band from London, UK. Robert, Chris and Gareth assembled in early 2014 out of friendship and a shared admiration for bands such as Stars of the Lid, Low and Sparklehorse. Recorded in Surbiton and West Sussex throughout 2016 and 2017 ‘Arch’ comes from a simplistic, pure place; displaying an incredible and developed sense of control and restraint in their work, while still resonating between order and chaos, glitter and dirt, beauty and destruction.
