Deer Park Ranger - Everything All The Time

Deer Park Ranger is the solo project of Trevor Humphrey. He formed the project in Oakland California in mid 2016 and found his sound as he began pairing Rhodes Piano with delayed guitars, and electronics. Inspired by post-rock influences Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai, he layers simple and beautiful melodies that build into powerful crescendos.

Everything All the Time is the debut EP from Deer Park Ranger. Over the course of the last year, Trevor Humphrey created this project with the intention of making music that takes the listener on a journey. He was able to craft a unique sound with echo guitars and Rhodes Piano that merry together with urgent percussion and electronics, creating tension and blissful release.
Each track takes the listener through rich, layered textures that drive to epic highs and wind down to gentle lows. A serene soundscape is built as each movement delicately flows together leaving the listener with a sense of calm and comfort.

Sleeping Horses - Sleeping Horses

Hailing from the east coast, Sleeping Horses’ James Randolph Fouty currently records and resides in Portland, Oregon where he records his breathtaking post-rock & ambient tracks. With his roots planted firmly in the ambient genre, analogue textures and reverb saturated guitar swells, Sleeping Horses has gently moved into the realm of post-rock instrumentals. Draped in orchestral strings, timpani booms, and cymbal rushes, he still manages to reference his ambient past.

With the fury of a thousand distant supernovas and the calm of the space that lies between them, Sleeping Horses is always able to capture that exact moment when one dares to blink during a picture or open their eyes during a kiss. Sleeping Horses is a solo orchestra, a boisterous ambient chaos of climactic whispers, the soft winds that slip in and out of his tracks are breathy and effortless.

The intention of the album is to make you smile. And that is probably the first thing while you are blasting this album on your stereo. Heavy and lovely. Smile.

Glasgow Coma Scale - Enter Oblivion

Following their debut EP “Apophenia”, Glasgow Coma Scale's first full-length album “Enter Oblivion” took the band quite a long time to put all the pieces together and finally got recorded. It contains both new and old compositions. For instance- the last track on the record, called Birthland is the first song ever written, while the opener Sonda is the band’s latest creation.

Why Enter Oblivion? Have you ever heard of people having their best ideas, just before they fall asleep? This is how lots of ideas on this record were born. Mostly, it was the question of catching the idea by singing it into for example a voice recorder or a mobile before entering the oblivion.

So, in case of Glasgow Coma Scale, this very moment is crucial if it comes to generating ideas. You catch it and transfer it later into your songs, or you did not manage to stay awake and lose it. It is that simple. The song Southern Crosses was written in a rehearsal room in the German capital Berlin while the band was touring. The special thing about the rehearsal room was its location – that was in the midst of an old cemetery. Surrounded by crosses on the one hand side and being close to a railway station called “Südkreuz” (South Cross) on the other hand, finding the song title was an easy decision.

Jet Plane - Pipe Dream

“Pipe Dream” is the third Jet Plane album. Its mood, emotions and imagery have been inspired by events going on around us – in the here and now. Beautiful airy tunes entwine into an atmosphere of tension and dismay, ethereality and featheriness are followed by a vibrant crescendo. Peace and harmony seem a pipe dream; but it has long been considered just as inapproachable for a man to hit the skies and fly. So let us dream.

Classic post-rock harmonies enframed by violin remind of Mogwai and Yndi Halda. Apart from that, Jet Plane employ bagpipes and nyckelharpa, which is the band’s specialty distinguishing them from the rest. The album sound has been also moulded by famous Japanese musicians and sound producers Takahiro Kido and Kashiwa Daisuke having worked on album’s mixing and mastering.

The band 417.3 from Russia was formed in 2006 and since that time has been playing post-rock / instrumental, using only digits and symbols in the names of the songs.

The album “34” is the third album of the band 417.3. It cardinally differs from the previous two albums as it is intense, dynamic and infusive. The transition from post-rock / post-metal to rhythmical themes surrounded by ambient atmospheric sounds will make your thoughts gallop like wild horses.

Upon listening to the first track entitled "15", one is thrust in to wild post-rock thoughts that not only relax but also entertain. The whole set of tracks in the album are undoubtedly rhythmic and captivating, and will definitely get in touch with your inner music.

Oh Hiroshima - In Silence We Yearn

With the release of In 'In Silence We Yearn' Oh Hiroshima have shown they are capable of upholding a continuous forward motion when it comes to song writing, as well as overall sound crafting. With an even greater focus on creating a unifying experience that hold the songs together, while still maintaining the ever present suggestive and adventurous element that has always distinguished the band, the record takes Oh Hiroshimas earlier strengths to new levels. The melodies and sounds turn from gentleness to raw intensity through sweeping narrative sections, backed up by a driven rhythm section and soaring vocals; the latter taking a bigger role on this release than on previous recordings.

Altogether, the music on 'In Silence We Yearn' appear to circle around a primary theme or essence, while at the same time letting each song find its own way into the collection. The lyrics mirrors this ideal, centring around the longing for eschatological hope in the socio-political turbulence of contemporary society. As a whole, the albums blend of restrained stillness and expressive outpourings seem to create the perfect soundtrack for emotive reflection and introspective exploration.

Eleven33 - Chasing Light

In 2014, after having taken a break from writing anything new for a while, Rob began to sketch and work on ideas he had recorded on the acoustic guitar or piano. There was a ton of inspiration for the new material as well. That year, he saw several close family and friends deal with some serious adversity in their lives. It was just a tough, emotionally draining year on so many fronts, but there were bright spots as well.

Despite the adversity, there was always one shining, consistent theme that came through with these people: their ability to get back up after being knocked down and to find a light amidst the darkness. A lot of times, we just want to cave in and give up. The strength and desire to thrive that Rob saw in these people was incredibly inspiring … so much so, that he began to write music around that theme and that’s where "Chasing Light" came from.

“Chasing Light” is all about resiliency, resolve, determination to thrive, and the quest for “good” despite all the negative things around us. It’s about dealing with and responding to adversity. While he has his own personal connection to each track, Rob’s hope is that people who hear this record can relate to the themes the music conveys and apply it to something they’re going through in life.

The tracks are sequenced in a way that take the listener on a journey and there’s a real flow to it all … Innocence, hope, heartbreak, darkness, resilience, and triumph all play a part in telling the story.

In addition to the music, the artwork used for the album is equally inspiring. Collaborations with four very talented landscape photographers: Jonathan Besler, Dominic Kamp, Nicholas Buer, and Szabolcs Zsoldos … added so much to the project. “How do you tell a story with music without words?” Rob wanted to take that same challenge with the artwork as well … “How do you convey the emotions of people without pictures of people?” Rob’s vision succeeded in matching dramatic landscape photos to each track in order to help drive home the story of human emotion captured in “Chasing Light.”

Rob Fleming on the recording of Chasing Light, “I do everything myself. Writing, playing the instruments, recording, producing, engineering, etc. That can have its challenges! It can be very lonely creating music this way and I hope to collaborate with other talented musicians to create something special one day. The advantage to working alone is that I’m not pressured or rushed into decisions and I never have arguments with myself! I’m a perfectionist when it comes to recording the performance. In fact, the writing/composition part is much easier for me than recording. But once I’m focused on an idea, things happen naturally. My favorite moments of the recording process come when I’m able to really capture the essence of the emotion I’m trying to convey through the music and I don’t have to work very hard at all to write the part and record it. I love it when I would be working on an idea and before I knew it, it was 3:00 AM and I didn’t even notice ... just getting lost in it all. The biggest thrill for me is when random mistakes turn into big ideas.

Summer Effect - Afterlife

Summer Effect is a post-rock band from Indonesia which was formed in early 2012. Ibo (drums, keys) is the founder. At the end of 2011, he met Aroel (guitar, keys), and since then they have been playing as an instrumental band which blends shoegaze, ambient and post-rock.

The band started as a wish to create new atmosphere; reflecting their tastes in music and other forms of art. They create their compositions with simple chord progression bars, wrapped with a pounding drum beats, harmonized guitar tones, a bit of distortion. Then the songs get slowly begin to evolve to shoegaze, ambient and post-rock to produce certain vibrations of atmosphere.

Afterlife is the third album from Summer Effect which contains 10 instrumental post-rock, progressive songs. In this album they tried to play tones with fractional composition of different time signatures. Simple and unexpected chord progression was created to produce a unique dynamic, stomping, dark vibe, like what is being experienced on the track Envoy, Clouded Minds or Don’t Let Me Disappear. They are assisted by a musician named 'Erdi David' (Dwaninungka), which fills the bass on the song Beating Heart & Everything Seems Different. Also, the drums sounds warmer than their previous albums.

Summer Effect comes with their third record, inviting people who like shoegaze, ambient and post-rock to produce certain vibrations of atmosphere to listen "After Life".
